Narrative

The project, which is located in a historic San Francisco Neighborhood, currently has a rear sun room (Variable A).  The clients proposed adding a horizontal addition to the rear of their home (Variable B).  The neighbors to the north asserted there would be substantial loss of light at their entry stairs.  A study was performed focusing on the shadow impacts on the entry stairs of the northerly neighbor that were attributable to the proposed horizontal addition.  A large tree had recently been removed from the rear yard of the client and its previous impact was incorporated into the study (Variable C).
